Frequently Asked Questions
What is Life Coaching?
Life Coaches work with healthy individuals who are seeking personal or professional growth. They do not diagnose or give expert advice. Life Coaching is about meeting individuals where they are today and looking at what's working in their life and what obstacles, thoughts or beliefs that may be getting in the way of where they want to be. Coaches do this by asking thought-provoking questions and you, the client, provides the answers. Life Coaching is NOT therapy. As a life coach, I believe that each person knows exactly what to do and what will work best. Just as an athlete needs a coach to assist them in drawing out the best in themselves, likewise, it’s beneficial to have an objective, non-judgmental, non-biased individual to support us as we strive to bring out the best in our lives.
Can I get a coaching session without using a horse?
Yes, coaching sessions can be done over the phone, via videoconferencing or in person.
How can I get the most out of my coaching sessions?
It is best to have an idea of what you would like support with, yet be willing to be flexible and open to the possibility of going in a different direction. Also, come with an open mind regarding exploring thoughts and beliefs that may no longer be serving you.
How do I know if coaching is right for me?
If you are a healthy individual who is in need of support in facing life challenges (professionally or personally) life coaching could be for you. Before committing to a coaching session, we will schedule a 30-minute complimentary consultation call to determine if working together would be a good match.
What do horses bring to a coaching session?
Horses are a prey animal, and their survival depends on being able to sense danger. When humans are incongruent (what's going on internally doesn’t match what's being presented externally) horses will respond accordingly. Horses provide in the moment, non-judgmental, honest feedback by mirroring us. They also demonstrate our repressed emotions, giving one the opportunity to see themselves as they truly are. During the equine experience we will explore new perspectives until the client finds what is most authentic and true for them.
Do I need to have experience with horses?
No horse experience necessary. Every coaching session is done from the ground.
What are the benefits of purchasing more than one session at a time?
By purchasing multiple sessions you’re letting yourself and others know “I am committed to making an investment in my personal growth”. The best results are gained when doing a series of coaching sessions as each session builds upon the other. With anything new, it takes time to implement and along the way questions, concerns, and obstacles will arise and will need to be supported. Discounted rates are available when purchasing a package.
What do I wear to a equus coaching session?
The weather in Kansas City varies, please dress accordingly. Closed toed shoes that protect your feet are required (no sandals or tennis shoes).
